Take a breastfeeding class before baby comes.
Begin your birth plan and have one hour of just you and the baby skin to skin (Get my Free birth plan template here)
Check if your insurance covers a breast pump. My favorite site is Aeroflow. Qualify Through Insurance (aeroflowbreastpumps.com) Get with a Lactation provider to discuss your breastfeeding goals/desires/questions. You can book a consult with me, here. Do not use Pacifiers or bottles (unless medically necessary), until a good latch is established. (You can get a free download of the “No formula, No bottle, No Pacifiers” printout here). Room with your baby the first night, and nights after. Take a Birthing class. Your local hospital may offer one or your local midwife, doula, or birthing center. Educate your family/friends about the benefits of breastfeeding. Join a breastfeeding group in person or online. Ask your Family/Friends if they have ever breastfed. Feed your baby frequently and often “8 or more feeds in 24 hours” is the minimum amount of feeds to reach. Check for baby friendly hospitals in your area. You can search for a facility here Baby-Friendly USA - Find a Baby-Friendly Facility (babyfriendlyusa.org) Make and freeze some lactation snacks. These can help aide milk production and a yummy source of energy.
