Have a virtual Infant Feeding Class with a Military Lactation Counselor. This class will include: How Lactation Works: Breastfeeding is natural, getting a good start, the anatomy of how your breasts make milk, latching on and positioning. Challenges and unique situations, breastmilk benefits and colostrum. When To Feed Your Baby: Hunger cues, cluster feeds, pacifiers and bottle feeding. How much is enough, how to know that your baby is getting enough milk, counting diapers, weight gain, feeding log, jaundice. Birthing Parent Care: Breast/Chest fullness, hand expression, engorgement and medications. Skin to skin, birth plans, and post hospital lactation. Breastfeeding Lifestyle: Taking care of yourself, family planning, diet for lactating parents, returning to work, pumping, nursing away from home and storing your milk. *I understand that not everyone agrees with the verbiage used to describe breastfeeding or body feeding and I want to ensure you of inclusive language, regarding the families I am educating on infant feeding*
